The National Health Fund is
a statutory organization whose mission is to reduce the burden
of health
care in Jamaica. It does
so by providing Individual Benefits and Institutional Benefits.
The NHF Individual Benefits assist individuals meet their cost
of prescriptions
for specific illnesses. NHF benefits are provided
for all residents of Jamaica. The NHF institutional
Benefits provide financial support to the public and private health
sectors for health promotion and illness
prevention. It encourages people to practice a healthy lifestyle
and exercise a greater responsibility for their health.
Health Facilities in the public sector also obtain financial
assistance
from the NHF Institutional Benefits, to improve the delivery of
health care services.
